Abstract

An Interview with Polona Legvart, the winner of the Blaž Kumerdej Award

Polona Legvart is a teacher of the first educational period at the OŠ bratov Polančičev primary school in Maribor. She collaborates with the National Education Institute Slovenia on many development tasks and projects, and is also a member of many of its teams. Through strong personal engagement, pedagogical research and constant search of in-depth understanding of learning she is strongly influencing the development of pedagogical practice within as well as outside the school. She is especially interested in the learning environment in the broadest possible sense. According to her understanding, a teacher’s profession by far extends the classroom walls, which is why teachers should be constantly researching their own practices, and while being critical she also keeps bringing in fresh suggestions and ideas to the pedagogical sphere.
