Abstract
Systematic Teaching of Reading Strategies at Fran Albreht Kamnik Primary School
The author presents the project of teaching reading strategies at the Fran Albreht Kamnik Primary School. It presents the project from its initial phase, i.e. the planning and maturing of ideas, to its final phase, i.e. the teaching of strategies. Reading strategies help pupils learn how to learn. That was what guided the employees at the Fran Albreht Kamnik Primary School, who wished to put theory into practice within the scope of a working group for reading literacy and learning to learn. To help and encourage them to think more broadly about reading literacy and learning to learn, the employees attended a lecture by dr. Sonja Pečjak on the topic of reading strategies at a pedagogical conference. A few months later, they invited Mira Kramarič to be a guest lecturer at a pedagogical conference. Afterwards, the working group met on several occasions and designed a proposal of an implementation plan for the systematic or planned teaching of reading strategies. They presented it to the professional working groups, which approved the proposal. This was followed by teachers’ and school librarians’ implementation. So far, more than half of the planned activities have been implemented. They wish to implement all of them by the end of the school year, after which they will evaluate the work performed.
