Abstract

»Nova moč, s polno paro dalje [New Strength, Full Steam Ahead]« (Trkaj)
Review of the Book Kla kla klasika

The review of Kla kla klasika [Cla Cla Classics] is no ordinary review, because it concerns an unusual book, an amalgam of the classics and rap, and of many other things. In addition to the basic information about the book, it thoroughly presents its contents, which truly combine a great amount of material – classic Slovenian poems from various periods and poems written by the rapper Trkaj in present times; verses written by rappers; fragments of various popular songs; short technical excerpts from important literary historians and other experts; references to works of (more) contemporary Slovenian poets; an explanation of the most important concepts of literary science; various expert and didactic comments, thoughts, explanations, warnings, instructions and tasks; and examples of children’s re-creative work. After reading the book (and listening to the CD), it inspires great hope that it will reach young people (perhaps as encouragement for them to come up with their own raps), and will undoubtedly pose a challenge to older readers.
