Vrtec in šolo Centra IRIS obiskuje majhna, zelo nehomogena skupina otrok. Knjižnica tako kot Center IRIS pokriva širšo skupino uporabnikov. Večina uporabnikov ima okvaro vida, ki se lahko pojavlja kot pridružena motnja. Pomanjkanje gradiv, primernih za to področje, nas je primoralo vpeljati drugačne oblike dela z uporabniki knjižnice. Ker pripomočke za branje spoznajo že pri specialnih znanjih ter v okviru samega pouka, postane branje v knjižnici veččutna izkušnja. Zaradi preverjanja razumevanja in spoznavanja novih besed poleg poslušanja uporabljamo predmete, ki jih otipamo, povonjamo, spoznavamo sorazmerja, gibanje, da ponazorimo značilnost pravljice in tako spodbujamo k samostojnemu branju.

Reading Hours at Centre IRIS

The kindergarten and school of Centre IRIS are attended by a small, very non-homogeneous group of children. Just as Centre IRIS, the library also caters to a broad group of users. Most of its users are suffering from visual impairment, sometimes in the form of an accompanying disorder. The lack of suitable books has forced us to engage with such library users in different ways. As they already learn about reading aids while being taught specialised knowledge and during regular lessons, in the library reading becomes a multisensory experience. To assess the pupils’ understanding and knowledge of new words we use, in addition to listening, objects that we can touch, smell and observe their proportions, and movement to illustrate the characteristics of the fairy tale and thus encourage the pupils to read independently.
