Abstract
Student Violence Against Secondary School Teachers and its Repercussions
Student violence against teachers has a significant impact on teachers‘ professional and private lives, as well as the school as a social system. In a survey involving 221 secondary school teachers, we looked at the prevalence of such violence, the self-perceived repercussions of experiencing violence, and its relationship to subjective well-being and work engagement. We found that most teachers had not experienced student violence in the previous school year. However, some reported severe consequences. Violence was also found to harm teachers‘ subjective well-being and work engagement.
