S povezovanjem omenjenih predmetnih področij učenci krepijo zavest o pomenu kulturne dediščine in arhiviranju umetniških del, ki so z nacionalnega vidika pomembna, obenem ob poustvarjanju naslovnice Martina Krpana krepijo likovno ustvarjalnost.

Abstract

Martin Krpan at the Cross-Curricular Intersection

The article contains theoretical foundations and the presentation of a proposal for the cross-curricular activities of a school library, Fine arts and Slovenian lessons, as well as the evaluation of its practical implementation in the classroom, carried out at our school with 7th grade students. The common thread that connects all three subject areas is Levstik‘s fictional tale Martin Krpan z Vrha. The school library keeps numerous editions and prints of the picture book Martin Krpan, which is why we chose it to discuss Slovenian book illustration through time. The students discussed Martin Krpan in the Slovenian class. In the school library, they learned to use the search in the Cobiss online platform, searching for individual editions of the picture book Martin Krpan in the bibliographic system and on the shelves. With the help of the online didactic material of the National Gallery, they independently learned about Slovenian book illustration and book covers, which they themselves created as a draft for industrial graphics in Fine Arts class. By connecting the mentioned subject areas, students strengthen their awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and the archiving of works of art that are important from a national perspective, while at the same time strengthening their artistic creativity by recreating the cover of Martin Krpan.
