Članek poskuša spodbuditi k razmišljanju o pomenu zemljevidov pri pouku zgodovine in k njihovi aktivni uporabi s pomočjo učenja z odkrivanjem. Z interaktivnim zemljevidom Srednjeveška mesta in trgi na spletni strani Sledi preteklosti lahko spodbujamo digitalno pismenost, kartografsko in bralno pismenost ter druge inovativne pristope k učenju, dosegamo aktivnost učencev in spodbujamo njihovo radovednost ter kritično mišljenje. Delo z zgodovinskimi zemljevidi krepi prostorsko in časovno predstavljivost učencev in jim omogoča lažje dojemanje in razumevanje spreminjanja prostora skozi čas.

Abstract

How to Effectively Achieve Goals Connected with Spatial Representation in History

The article aims to encourage thinking about the meaning of maps in history class and their active use through discovery learning. With the interactive map Medieval cities and market towns, available on the webpage Traces of the past, we can foster digital literacy, cartographic and reading literacy, as well as other innovative approaches to learning, achieve students’ engagement, and encourage their curiosity and critical thinking. Working with interactive maps enhances students’ spatial and time representation, and allows them to more easily comprehend and understand the change of space through time. The article gives a short presentation of the discovery learning method, which can be used in a beneficial way when working with historical maps. The didactic examples given show the possibility of using the new interactive map together with other maps in textbooks, workbooks or historical atlases. The examples of using the interactive map Medieval cities and market towns are connected with the topics from the still current as well as from the revised curricula (important noble houses in the Middle Ages on the territory of present-day Slovenia, Ottoman invasions of the territory of present-day Slovenia and peasants’ revolts on the Slovenian territory).
