Abstract
Challenges of Teaching a Blind Student in an Inclusion Classroom
The paper presents the inclusive integration of a blind girl at the Poljane nad Škofjo Loko Primary School. From the perspective of a special education teacher, it describes cooperation with all of the important partners in the process – with the student, the class teacher, teachers of individual subjects, the parents, and the Institute for Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Ljubljana – that strongly and significantly supported our work. When teaching a blind student, successful inclusive practice is largely the result of preparing aids for the student‘s active participation; hence, the final part of the paper describes examples of adapted practical aids and materials prepared at the school.
