Povzetek

Mnogim prebivalcem daljne in bližnje okolice Maribora pomeni Avstrija »obljubljeno deželo«.

Abstract

Economic Migrations of Young People and Economically Active Population from the Municipalities of Pesnica and Šentilj to Austria

To many people in the vicinity of Maribor, either near or far, Austria is the “promised land”. The purpose of the article is to present the economic migrations of young people and the economically active population from the municipalities of Pesnica and Šentilj to Austria with a research paper that was presented at the 49th Meeting of Early-Stage Researchers of Slovenia 2015. The findings obtained with a questionnaire in the 8th and 9th grades of all primary schools in these two municipalities have confirmed that the unemployment rate in the municipalities of Pesnica and Šentilj is lower because of the share of the economically active population that is employed in Austria, and that their reasons for visiting Austria are mostly of an economic nature.
