Abstract

Using Didactic Toys to Assimilate New Knowledge, Consolidate What We Already Know, and Have Fun

Playing is the most important form of learning for children, which is why the school must enable children to play, guiding and encouraging them in the process. Through playing, children develop a sense of belonging, satisfy their need for socialising, become accustomed to interrelationships, learn the rules, and practise communication. Didactic games also greatly contribute to better reading and writing skills. Such games enable learning, knowledge consolidation, fun and relaxation at the same time. Special didactic material was prepared for the implementation of Library and Information Knowledge lessons in December. The basis was the games of various publishers (Bunny Jump, Brainbox, Tick Tock Boom, Activity, etc.), which were thematically adapted to the library environment, to books and to the Slovenian language. The aim of these games is for pupils to refresh or consolidate their knowledge in a fun and relaxed way, and to learn new things.
