Abstract
Usefulness of the Toulmin Model in School Practice
The purpose of the article is to highlight persuasive speech and its applicability in the Slovenian educational space based on the Toulmin model as an elaborated form of argumentation and the theoretical explanation of persuasion with three key elements: ethos, pathos and logos. Three examples of the Toulmin model were given for each triad of compulsory education, where rhetoric is a mandatory elective subject included only in primary school curriculum, while in secondary school education and undergraduate studies, this area remains neglected. Given the importance of communication and the fact that rhetoric is a skill that any individual can learn, this area should be given special attention at the faculties specializing in teacher education.
