Povzetek

Sodobni pristopi poučevanja geografije v osnovni šoli zahtevajo vključevanje raznolikih metod, ki učence motivirajo in spodbudijo k razmišljanju. Eden izmed takih pristopov je metoda učenja z raziskovanjem, ki učencem pomaga, da skozi učni proces pridobijo znanje, spretnosti in vrednote, s katerimi se usposabljajo za odgovoren in angažiran odnos do okolja. Prispevek predstavlja primer učne ure v 9. razredu, kjer so učenci ugotavljali, katera od možnosti dosedanje ustaljene prakse ločevanja odpadkov ponuja najboljšo rešitev za zmanjšanje količine odpadkov. Z izkušnjo lastne aktivne udeležbe med odgovornim in manj odgovornim nakupom so raziskovali, kako se usposobiti kot družbeno odgovoren posameznik za boljši jutri, ki proizvaja čim manj smeti, preden postanejo odpadek.

Abstract

Learning by Exploring: Preventing Waste at its Source

Modern primary school geography teaching approaches involve diverse methods that motivate and encourage students to think. One such approach is the research-based learning method, which allows students to acquire knowledge, skills and values through the learning process to prepare them for responsible and active environmental participation. This paper describes a lesson in which Grade 9 students investigated the existing waste separation practices that have so far offered the best solutions for reducing waste. Through the experience of their active engagement in responsible and less responsible purchasing practices, they explored how to qualify as socially accountable individuals for a better tomorrow, avoiding waste before it becomes waste.
