Tako v romanu Fata morgana kot v kratkih pripovedih, zbranih v zbirki Na obali, so osrednji liki Marice Nadlišek mlade meščanke, le v zadnji fazi tudi delavke. Z različnimi pripovednimi postopki, med katerimi so pogosti dnevnik, pisma in retrospektive, predvsem pa z živahnimi dialogi, pisateljica dovolj plastično oblikuje njihove značaje in izraža temeljne dileme slovenske ženske ob koncu 19. stoletja ter njihovo težnjo po emancipaciji. Tudi sodobni bralci z zanimanjem spremljamo njihova pričakovanja, upanja in razočaranja. Pred nami zaživi avstro-ogrski nacionalno mešani, a vendar tudi slovenski Trst in njegovo zaledje. Pisateljica in urednica, »ki je bila konec 19. stoletja vsestransko prisotna in deležna velikega priznanja ne samo na tržaškem, ampak tudi na celotnem slovenskem kulturnem področju«, (Biber 2005: 347) je zato gotovo vredna omembe in obravnave pri gimnazijskem pouku slovenščine.

Abstract

School Pathways to Marica Nadlišek Bartol (1867-1940) and Her Literary Depiction from the End of the 19th Century

The main characters of the novel Fata morgana and the collection of short stories Na obali written by Marica Nadlišek are young bourgeois women and, only in the last phase, also workers. By using various narrative forms, including diaries, letters and retrospection, and especially lively dialogue, the author creates their characters graphically enough and expresses the fundamental dilemmas of Slovenian women at the end of the 19th century with their aspiration for emancipation. As modern day readers, we also follow their expectations, hopes and disappointments with interest. We are drawn into the world of Austro-Hungarian ethnically diverse but also Slovenian Trieste and its outskirts. For this reason, the author and editor, who was “versatile and who received important recognition not only in Trieste but in the entire Slovenian cultural context«, (Biber 2005: 347) certainly deserves to be mentioned and studied in Slovenian grammar school classes.
