Abstract

E-Learning Method for Teaching Mathematical Content in Primary and Secondary School via Distance Education

Distance education, which we recently experienced as a result of the extreme epidemiological situation, presented several challenges, one of which was a different approach to mathematics instruction. To that end, primary (i.e., Years 6 to 9) and secondary school mathematics teachers were surveyed on their use of digital technology during the period of distance education. The questionnaire was completed by 444 participants. This paper analyses the responses regarding their choice of videoconferencing environments, the use of online classrooms, the creation of mathematics videos, and the integration of online questionnaires in mathematics teaching. The article summarises the teachers‘ experiences with digital technology when working with special needs, gifted, and/or immigrant students. The final section focuses on the practices which the teachers have continued to use in face-to-face education after the period of distance education ended.
