Geologija je prisotna povsod okoli nas in predstavlja osnovo za razumevanje vseh naravnih procesov. Je osnovna temeljna naravoslovna veda, ki pa je v vzgojno-izobraževalnih programih zastopana razpršeno. Na podlagi analize kurikuluma za vrtce in učnih načrtov predmetov razredne stopnje osnovne šole je ugotovljena prisotnost ciljev in vsebin, vezanih na geologijo. Namen prispevka je na osnovi rezultatov analize pokazati potenciale za vključitev vsebin geologije v šolski vsakdan, razbiti mite o zmotnem mišljenju, da je poučevanje geologije težavno ali neprivlačno za učence, ter spodbuditi zanimanje za učenje in poučevanje vsebin iz geologije. Predstavljen je nabor obstoječe slovenske literature za otroke in predlog virov, ki bodo v pomoč učiteljem in vzgojiteljem. Na primeru iz Geoparka Karavanke je predstavljena izvedba Geo projektnega dne na temo »Vulkani – Zemlja bruha, na površju se nekaj zakuha«. Na primeru dobre prakse so prikazane možnosti in načini vključevanja vsebin, ki so vezane na geologijo in varstvo geo dediščine skladno s cilji in vsebinami in so tako aktivno vključene v vzgojno-izobraževalne programe.

Abstract

Even Though it Cannot Be Seen, it is Everywhere: Geology in the Educational System

Geology is all around us and represents the basis for understanding all natural processes. Although being the basic natural science, it is dispersed among several educational programs. The analysis of kindergarten curriculum and subject syllabuses of higher primary school grades revealed that they contain geology-related goals and contents. The purpose of this article is to use the analysis results in order to illustrate the potentials for including geology-related contents in schools on a daily basis, to destroy the myths brought on by wrongful thinking that teaching pupils about geology is difficult or unattractive, and to stimulate the interests for learning about and teaching geology. The article demonstrates a few examples of existing Slovene literature for children and suggests some other resources which could help school-, as well as kindergarten teachers. It describes the example of Geopark Karavanke which held a volcano-themed Geo-project day titled ‘Vulkani – Zemlja bruha, na površju se nekaj zakuha’ (Volcanoes – when the Earth gets sick, it cooks up something on its surface). The good- practice example provides several possibilities and methods of actively – and in accordance with teaching goals and contents – including contents, which are related with geology and the preservation of geological heritage, in educational programs.
