Biti učitelj – služba, kariera ali poslanstvo?

Povzetek

Učitelji, ki so zadovoljni s svojim delom in ki le-tega zaznavajo kot poslanstvo, učinkovito vodijo razred ter pozitivno vplivajo na osebnostni razvoj učencev in tudi na njihovo učno uspešnost. Zato v prispevku predstavljam zanimivo delitev treh načinov zaznavanja dela: kot službe, kariere ali poslanstva. Raziskave potrjujejo številne pozitivne vidike zaznavanja dela kot poslanstva na splošni populaciji in tudi pri učiteljih. Tudi v raziskavi na slovenskem vzorcu učiteljev je kar dve tretjini učiteljev poročalo, da svoje delo doživljajo kot poslanstvo, to pa se je odražalo tudi v višji stopnji zadovoljstva z življenjem in delom. Zaradi navedenih pozitivnih vidikov zaznavanja dela kot poslanstva pri učiteljih v prispevku predstavljam strategije, ki lahko učiteljem pomagajo (ponovno) odkriti občutek poslanstva pri svojem delu.

Abstract

Being a Teacher – a Job, a Career or a Mission?

Teachers who are satisfied with what they do and see their work as their mission are effective in guiding their classes and have a positive influence on their students’ personal development and their learning success. In line with this, the article presents three interesting ways of perceiving one’s work: as a job, as a career or as a mission. Research in this field confirms many positive aspects of perceiving work as a mission in life relative to the general population, including teachers. Similarly, a research performed among Slovenian teachers reveals that as many as two thirds of the teachers included in the sample experience their work as a mission in life, which in turn reflects in a higher level of satisfaction with life and work. Based on these positive effects of teachers perceiving their work as a mission, the article also offers a number of strategies that can help them (re)discover the feeling of teaching as a mission in life.
