Izvleček
Generacija alfa so otroci, rojeni med letoma 2010 in 2025. To generacijo sta sooblikovala pandemija covida-19 in učenje na daljavo. Je tehnološko spretna generacija, ki dnevno uporablja orodja informacijske tehnologije in se že srečuje z uporabo generativne umetne inteligence za jezikovno obdelavo in pogovor. Ob doseženih ciljih osnovnega opismenjevanja, generaciji alfa knjige postajajo manjša motivacija. Do informacij in zabave lahko otroci pridejo tudi brez branja, s poslušanjem in gledanjem ter z uporabo orodij informacijske tehnologije in generativne umetne inteligence. To potrjuje tudi raziskava izposoje knjig v šolski knjižnici ene od slovenskih osnovnih šol, ki je v letu 2024 pokazala 25-% padec izposoje na vzorcu 240 otrok, starih od 6 do 9 let, ki so na prehodu med stopnjo bralca začetnika in stopnjo utrjevanja branja. V tem kontekstu je predlaganih nekaj rešitev, od sodelovanja učiteljev s šolskimi knjižničarji za ustrezno posodobitev knjižnega fonda v skladu s prenovo učnih načrtov pa vse do oblikovanja finančnega načrta, ki bo služil bolj sistematični in transparentni nabavi.
Abstract
Generation Alpha – Reading Trends in Primary School
Generation Alpha refers to children born between 2010 and 2025. This generation was significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the shift to distance learning. It is a technologically savvy generation that uses information technology tools daily. Additionally, they are already interacting with artificial intelligence models for language processing and conversation. Once basic literacy skills are acquired, books tend to be less motivating for Generation Alpha. Thanks to information technology tools and artificial intelligence models, they can obtain information and entertainment without reading, often by listening and watching. This trend is highlighted by a study conducted in 2024 at a primary school library in Slovenia, which revealed a 25% decline in book borrowing among a sample of 240 children aged 6 to 9. These children are transitioning between the beginner reader stage and the reading consolidation stage. In this context, several solutions are proposed, from collaborations with teachers and school librarians to appropriately update the book collection in line with the renewal of curricula to creating a financial plan that will serve a more systematic and transparent book acquisition.
