Izvleček

Ob jubilejnem letu Zofke Kveder prispevek obravnava njeno mesto v slovenski literarni zgodovini s poudarkom na premisleku o sodobnem razumevanju njenega opusa.

Abstract

Zofka Kveder (1878–1926): Between the Voice of a Woman and the Voice of the Times

In this anniversary year commemorating Zofka Kveder, this article explores her significance in Slovenian literary history and reflects on contemporary interpretations of her body of work. It raises the question of whether Zofka Kveder has primarily been regarded in the Slovenian context as a symbolic figure, i.e., the first professional Slovenian woman writer and a pioneer of women’s literary creativity, rather than as a complex literary creator and intellectual of European stature. The article emphasises her role as a cultural mediator, examines the understanding of femininity in her work, and discusses why her body of work remains relevant today. Special attention is given to how Zofka Kveder might be positioned within the school curriculum at both the primary and secondary levels in a more conceptual manner.
