Skotopični sindrom oziroma sindrom HelenIrlen in disleksija, predstavljena v slovenski otroški literaturi


Izvleček

Disleksija in skotopični sindrom oz. sindrom Helen Irlen sta dve različni motnji, ki ju je treba tudi tako obravnavati, a sta tudi zelo povezani. V praksi pogosto prihaja do nerazumevanja in mešanja med njima. V članku so najprej na kratko predstavljene skupne značilnosti in razlike obeh motenj, nato so predstavljene tri slovenske slikanice, kjer so v besedilu opisane težave, ki se pojavljajo pri disleksiji in skotopičnem sindromu oz. sindromu Helen Irlen ter njihovi miti. Sledi ustrezno popravljeno besedilo. Pomembno je, da spodrsljaje v besedilih opazimo in prepoznamo te zagate. To naj bo izziv, kako bi lahko nadgradili taka besedila in se pogovarjali o možnih rešitvah na področju branja in pisanja, z namenom vsakemu otroku omogočiti razvoj bralne pismenost.

Abstract

Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (Irlen Syndrome) and Dyslexia in Slovenian Children’s Literature

Dyslexia and scotopic sensitivity syndrome (also known as Irlen syndrome) are distinct disorders and must be distinguished. They are, nonetheless, closely related. In practice, we frequently misunderstand the terms or use them interchangeably. This article first summarises their features and differences. It then presents three Slovenian picture books that describe the challenges caused by dyslexia and scotopic sensitivity syndrome (Irlen syndrome), and some prevalent myths. The amended text is then presented. It is essential to detect the flaws and pitfalls in texts. It should be a challenge to examine how we can build on such writing and consider possible solutions in the areas of reading and writing to enable every child to develop reading literacy.
