Sedem let pričakovanj: šolski knjižničarji o katalogu

Knjižnični katalogi so pomembni tako za uporabnike knjižnic kot tudi za knjižničarje, ki so mnogokrat posredniki med učenci in knjižničnim katalogom. Do nedavnega so imeli v Sloveniji šolski knjižničarji avtonomno možnost izbire med programsko opremo: WinKnj, COBISS-om in Šolsko knjižnico idr. V skladu z dopolnitvami Zakona o knjižničarstvu (2015) se morajo vse osnovnošolske knjižnice vključiti v nacionalni bibliografski sistem. Pred sedmimi leti smo želeli izvedeti, kako si osnovnošolski knjižničarji pomagajo s knjižničnim katalogom, kadar iščejo gradivo za svoje učence, in kako ocenjujejo pomembnost naprednih funkcij, ki jih imajo knjižnični katalogi prihodnjih generacij. Januarja 2010 je na spletno anketo odgovorilo 131 knjižničarjev slovenskih osnovnih šol. Knjižničarji za svoje učence iščejo predvsem znano gradivo (po naslovu in avtorju) in jim je nabor bibliografskih elementov ustrezen, obogatili pa bi ga z vsebinskim opisom. Bolj kot drugačne bibliografske elemente in njihov spremenjeni vrstni red bi knjižničarji potrebovali oznake za velike tiskane črke, urejenost zadetkov po relevantnosti, sezname vsebinsko podobnega gradiva in povezave na nadaljevanja oz. predhodna dela. Na podlagi rezultatov ankete preverjamo, ali so želene funkcije že vključene v sistem, v katerega se bodo morale vključiti osnovnošolske knjižnice.

Abstract

Seven Years of Expectations: School Librarians on the Catalogue

Library catalogues are important both for library users and for librarians, who are often intermediaries between pupils and the library catalogue. Until recently, school libraries in Slovenia were the only publicly-funded libraries in a position to choose their library automation system: WinKnj, COBISS or Šolska knjižnica [School Library]. Amendments to the Librarianship Act (2015) stipulate that all primary school libraries have to be included in the national bibliographic system. Seven years ago, in January 2010, an online survey was conducted among 131 Slovenian primary school librarians. We wanted to find out how school librarians were using their library catalogue when searching for materials for their pupils, and how they assessed the importance of the advanced functionality of next-generation catalogues. Pupils and school librarians were searching the catalogue mostly for known sources (by title and author) and rated the selection of bibliographic elements as appropriate. Librarians expressed their need for clear capital letter indicators, the possibility to sort results by relevance, and to sort results based on similarity and links to prequels and sequels. Based on the results of the survey, we have analysed how those features are included in our current library system.
