Izvleček

Prosta igra, temeljna pravica in potreba otrok, ima za njihov razvoj neprecenljivo vrednost: predstavlja najbolj naraven način učenja, pri katerem otroci razvijajo kognitivne sposobnosti, čustvene in socialne kompetence, domišljijo, motivacijo in ustvarjalnost. S pomočjo igre se učijo reševanja problemov, samostojnega odločanja in prevzemanja odgovornosti za svoje izbire. Igra jih razvedri in sprosti ter prispeva k njihovemu duševnemu zdravju. Nekatere okoliščine vplivajo na to, da igra v vsakdanu otrok upada; med njimi izpostavljamo tiste, najtesneje povezane s starševstvom. Upadanje proste igre pomeni izgubo nekaterih pomembnih priložnosti za otroke, da bi pridobili znanja in izkušnje ter razvili spretnosti, ki predstavljajo pomembno popotnico za kasnejše življenje.

Abstract

Unstructured Playtime: Balancing Children‘s Developmental Needs and Modern Parenting Challenges

Unstructured playtime is children‘s fundamental right and need as well as a vital component of their development. It is the most natural way for children to learn, allowing them to develop cognitive abilities, emotional and social skills, imagination, motivation, and creativity. Through play, they learn to problem-solve, make independent decisions, and take responsibility for their choices. Play provides joy and relaxation, contributing positively to their mental health. However, certain factors, especially those associated with modern parenting, have led to a decline in children‘s playtime. The reduction in unstructured play deprives youngsters of critical opportunities to acquire knowledge, gain experience, and develop skills for their future.
