Članek opredeljuje položaj vzgojiteljev v današnjem času in (ne)odprtost do njihovega zaposlovanja. Družba se počasi, vendar vztrajno odmika od zakoreninjenih spolnih stereotipov in poskuša najti učinkovite načine za privabljanje vzgojiteljev. Zdi se, da uspešno, saj je opazno večje sprejemanje vzgojiteljev v predšolski vzgoji. Kljub ambicioznim načrtom in projektnim idejam njihova zastopanost ostaja nizka, izjema so skandinavske države, kjer je njihov delež višji. Na splošno družbeno mnenje še vedno močno vplivajo spolni stereotipi, patriarhalnost in zakoreninjene podobe o moškosti, a se stanje počasi izboljšuje. Veliko vlogo v vsakdanjem življenju ima šolski sistem, ki bi moral biti prilagojen obema spoloma oziroma vsem spolom. Družba se počasi, vendar vztrajno odmika od zakoreninjenih spolnih stereotipov in poskuša najti načine za privabljanje vzgojiteljev. Da bi pridobil vpogled v obstoječe stanje, sem izvedel kvantitativno raziskavo na vzorcu 75 strokovnih delavcev in delavk ter 54 staršev.
Abstract
Male Teachers‘ Role in Early Childhood Education
The article describes the current situation of male educators and the (lack of) openness towards their employment. Society is slowly but surely moving away from entrenched gender stereotypes and trying to find effective ways to attract male educators. It seems to be working, as the admission of male educators in early childhood education is noticeably increasing. However, despite ambitious plans and project ideas, their representation is still low, except for the Scandinavian countries, where the proportion is higher. Although the ingrained notions of masculinity, patriarchy, and gender stereotypes continue to shape public opinion, things are gradually becoming better. The school system, which should adapt to both (all) genders, plays a central role in everyday life. To gain an insight into the current situation, the author conducted a quantitative survey with a sample of 75 male and female professionals and 54 parents.
