Abstract
Gathering as Part of Modern Self-Sufficiency
Human development through history has moved people away from its primary natural environment to such an extent, that the greatest challenge in today’s society is to answer the question: How to conclude a natural cycle in order to be a functional part of nature again by fulfilling our needs? I present the role of edible wild plants in the local environment that surround us as healthy food, even food for free. Thus, the renewal of socially forgotten knowledge opens new possibilities for establishing human connection with nature, recognizing its very useful value, contribution to self-sufficiency and strengthening environmentally ethical activities in daily life.
