Za zvočnim zidom: kako podpreti učence priseljence v slovenskih razredih

Izvleček

Članek obravnava jezik kot učno orodje in hkrati najpogostejšo oviro pri vključevanju učencev priseljencev v slovenske razrede. Na kratko oriše stanje, razloži razliko med pogovornim in učnim jezikom ter povzame učinkovite modele podpore iz mednarodne prakse. Pregleda slovenski okvir in pokaže vrzel med usmeritvami in razredno izvedbo. Predstavi prve korake ob vpisu ter utemelji potrebo po poenotenem okviru za sistematično spremljanje napredka. V zaključku ponudi niz izvedljivih strategij za gradnjo besedišča, vizualno podporo, jasna in stopnjevana navodila ter zmanjšanje učiteljevega govora – z namenom, da se jezik izobraževanja sistematično vgradi v pouk vseh predmetov in učencem omogoči enak dostop do vsebine.

Abstract

Behind Sound Barrier: Supporting Immigrant Learners in Slovenian Schools

This article addresses language as both a learning tool and a significant barrier for immigrant learners trying to integrate into Slovenian classrooms. It provides an overview of the current situation, distinguishes between conversational and academic language, and summarises relevant support strategies from international practices. The article reviews the Slovenian educational framework and highlights the discrepancy between theory and practice. It recommends initial steps and advocates for a cohesive framework for systematic progress monitoring. In conclusion, it offers a set of practical strategies for vocabulary building, visual support, clear instructions, and minimising teacher talk, all aimed at systematically embedding the language of education across subjects.
